Sophie is a 22 year old veterinary nurse based in Northamptonshire with her horse Charlie. They compete in all disciplines across the East Midlands and the pair particularly enjoy cross country which is where Charlie performs at his best.
We asked Sophie some key questions so you can get to our newest ambassador…
Tell us Charlie’s story
Charlie arrived over from Northern Ireland in 2016 as a complete blank canvas. As an 8 year old, he was very green and found ridden work quite a challenge. We spent the first year getting to know each other before adventuring out competing which is where we found his love for jumping.
When did you start riding?
I started riding when I was 11 years old at a local riding school. I quickly fell in love with riding and finally convinced my parents to allow me to loan my first pony. I sadly outgrew her after a year of loaning which led me onto owning Charlie.
What’s you’re favourite riding memory?
My favorite riding memory is when I took Charlie to the beach in 2018 and we galloped bareback along the beach.
What’s your biggest achievement?
My biggest achievement would be completing our first two day event at Princethorpe in 2021 where we finished clear within the time on the roads and tracks, steeple chase and cross country phase with very little experience.
What do you do outside of riding?
I am currently a small animal student veterinary nurse with the goal to move onto large animal nursing.
How long have you fed Mollichaff?
I have been using Mollichaff since loaning my first pony almost 10 years ago, Charlie thoroughly looks forward to dinner time.
How did it all begin with TikTok?
I first started TikTok in 2020 during lockdown, my first video was a ‘meet charlie’ video which blew up overnight to over 100k views, from there I’ve continued to post videos which brings me to my following now of 79,300.
What are your 2024 goals with Charlie?
In 2024 my goal with Charlie is to gain more experience out Eventing and try and aim for a personal best dressage score!
