Lincolnshire-based para-equestrian rider, Roberta (Bert) Sheffield, who is sponsored by HorseHage, has been selected onto the Canadian Para-Dressage team for the FEI World Equestrian Games (WEG) 2018.
This prestigious competition, which is held every four years, will take place from 11th – 23rd September in Tryon, North Carolina, USA and is one of the biggest events in the global sporting calendar combining eight FEI equestrian disciplines.
37-year-old Bert will be riding the wonderful 16-year-old PRE-approved breeding stallion, Bailaor XXXIII (or Buddy as he’s known at home) owned by Morgan Equine and will be competing at Grade III classification.
Bert gained the ride on Bailaor in September 2017 and the pair made their international debut in June this year at the CPEDI3* competition in Somma Lombardo, Italy, winning all three of their tests. They followed on from this at the CPEDI3* at Hartpury with qualifying scores which ensured their place on the Canadian team.
Said a delighted Bert: “I’m so excited to be able to represent Canada at what will be my third major Games. HorseHage is integral to the way I manage my horses. I believe in keeping them in as horse-friendly way as possible. High forage, individually tailored diets are part of this approach and I am very grateful for their support over the years.”
